WHY WE GIVE
"Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver." 2 Corinthians 9:7
One of the ways we live out our vision here at Good Shepherd is to live generously with everything we have while spreading the love of Jesus to our community and world. In doing so, we glorify God and live out our purpose on this side of eternity in growing His Kingdom and bringing more people to know their Savior, Jesus.
Simply stated: God is not a taker. God is a giver. Here’s the truth: there’s nothing you and I have that God needs.
God doesn’t need our money, but He does want our hearts. And when we give back what He has first given and blessed us with, we are putting our trust in our loving God and His provision for our lives.

We know that God has provided for us in every sense. In our physical, spiritual, and emotional needs. He sent His Son to give us life, breath, and freedom. He has delivered us out of death and into eternal life. So in response to all He’s done, we say, “God, I want the world to know about Jesus. So I’m going to give to your church here on Earth. I’m going to give to Good Shepherd because I believe my money will be multiplied to help the ministries here continue to grow and reach those who have yet to hear what Jesus has done for them!"

So the prayer is that God would change our hearts to live generously with all we've been given. There’s nothing we have that He doesn’t already have a million times over. And there’s nothing we have that didn’t come from Him first. We are given this great privilege and ability to respond by joining Him with our time, our energy, our talents, and our money. We have this opportunity to lean into the things that last forever and be part of what God is doing here in this community and this church, Good Shepherd.
